The Ngorongoro Crater stands at 2286m above sea level. It is the largest unbroken caldera in the world. Sorrounded by very steep walls rising 610 metres from the crater floor; this crater has an area of 259sq km. On the floor, various animals can be found. These include elephants, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, rhino, cheetah, hyenas and lions.

Hundreds of species of birds also live in the crater. These include ostriches, kori bustards, secretary birds, egrets, red billed ox peckers and flamingoes.

Ngorongoro Crater is 60 Km form Lake Manyara and 190 Km from Arusha.
