The park has an area of 137 sqkm and is only 37 km from Arusha. There are over 50km of game viewing road/track in the Ngurdoto and Momella sectjions of hte park.

Major attractions in the park include Ngurdoto Crater, Meru Crater and Momella Monkey.

Animals to be found in the park also include Elephant, Giraffe, Buffalo, Bushbuck, Hippo, dik dik and warthog. There are no lions in the park. Accomodation can be provided at lodges near the park or in Moshi or Arusha.
